Carver Yacht: Pioneer of Cruising Ships

In 1954, Charles Carter and George Verhagen began building high-speed boats in a garage in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. What started as a hobby for two novice builders quickly gained a reputation for high-quality boats in the area and grew into a business under the name Carver Boat Company.

By the mid-1960s, Carver’s production line had expanded from mahogany-lined boats to cabin cruisers. With the use of fiberglass, in the 1970s Carver began production of larger, twin-engine cruisers.

In the 1980s, Carver was acquired to become a national leader in the luxury motor yacht market and became known for its aft cabin motor yachts. The 1990s saw the introduction of the Voyager long-range cruiser series and the stern-drive Montego series.

Today, Carver Yachts continues to produce large, highly functional and reliable cruising vessels in the industry. Carver Command Bridge and Coupe models set new standards for cruising yachts in terms of design and performance, serving a wide range of customers from 34 to 52 feet.
